Volkswagen has unveiled its groundbreaking addition to the EV lineup, the ID.7, solidifying the brand's electric future. Unlike its predecessors, this latest model targets a distinct segment of buyers, representing Volkswagen's inaugural global electric entry into the upper mid-size class.
Leveraging the modular electric drive matrix (MEB), the ID.7 is meticulously crafted from the ground up to establish new efficiency benchmarks within the Volkswagen-Audi Group. Its aerodynamic prowess, boasting a sleekly sloped coupé-style roof, achieves an exceptional drag coefficient of around 0.23, all within a nearly five-meter length framework.
Efficiency isn't confined to aerodynamics alone; the ID.7 flaunts an all-new electric drive motor, the APP550, engineered and manufactured by Volkswagen Group Components in Kassel, Germany. With an impressive 210 kW (286 PS) output, it stands as the most robust and torque-efficient electric drive motor among Volkswagen ID. models. The anticipated WLTP ranges of up to 700 kilometers and charging capacities nearing 200 kW signify remarkable strides in drivetrain technology.
Internally, the ID.7 boasts Volkswagen's cutting-edge operating and display concept, coupled with standard exclusive features. Highlights include a 38-centimeter (15-inch) infotainment system screen, an augmented reality head-up display, and a sophisticated air conditioning interface integrated into the top-tier infotainment system. Intuitive favorites buttons and a backlit touch slider enhance the user experience.
Luxury meets innovation inside the ID.7, introducing optional massage seats and an electronically dimmable panoramic sunroof, amenities traditionally associated with premium-class competitors. The vehicle also offers natural voice command functionality for operating various functions, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly interface.
For the first time in a Volkswagen, the optional front seats feature adaptive seat Climatronic, offering personalized heating, cooling, and a drying function. Adding to the opulence, an AGR-certified massage function complements this array of comfort features. Rounding off the lineup of options is a premium 700-watt Harman Kardon sound system, boasting 14 high-end speakers, including a front center speaker and a subwoofer in the luggage compartment, promising an unparalleled auditory experience in the new Volkswagen ID.7.
